User Interface

This gallery contains images that illustrate some of the features of the user interface.

Menus

Most of the forms have drop down menus, which can be accessed by tapping on the title bar, or on the Menu button.

Find Feature

This Find feature can be accessed, both inside and outside the application, by tapping on the Find button. It can be used to search for a customer, or a product. It can also be used to add a product to the current order.

Help Text

Most forms have some form of help text. For modeless full screen forms, the help text is displayed via an option on the drop down menu. For modal popup forms, it is accessed by tapping the i button in the title bar.

Scroll Arrows

Some forms have more than one page. These forms have scroll arrows in the bottom right hand corner of each page. Tapping the up or down arrow moves on to the next or previous page. The up arrow on the first page, and the down arrow on the last page, are greyed out.

Progress Manager

If a process is likely to take more than one second, the delay is handled by the Progress Manager.

Hardware Keys

Some hardware keys have specific functions in Vanguard:

Hardware key 1 is used by the screen capture facility.
The repeat key (usually hardware key 3), is used to increment the quantity, on the Order Line form. This has the same effect as scanning the product again, but is much faster.
If a barcode scanning module is being used, another key (usually hardware key 4) will be reserved for use as a trigger.
The Down movement on the 5-way navigator (or the Down button on older devices) move on to the next page of a form, or the next page of a scrolling list.
Similarly, the Up button moves to the previous page.
the Left and Right movements, and the Centre button of the 5-way navigator, are used to navigate the controls on a form.
